About The Position

The Housekeeper position is responsible for the cleanliness of assigned areas, offices, building facilities, or other residential spaces associated with a business unit for WashU. Daily responsibilities include cleaning entryways, restrooms, other common areas such as stairwells, hallways, and laundry areas. Depending on the business unit, this may also include occupied or vacant residential units, dining facilities, or other building spaces. Duties involve dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping down surfaces, cleaning glass, removing trash, replacing linens or other supplies, and other assigned custodial/housekeeping tasks. The frequency of these duties may fluctuate with the academic year. Daily communication with the housekeeping supervisor is essential to report any issues with assignments, buildings, spaces, occupant concerns, or building needs, including supplies and equipment. The role also requires reporting noticeable maintenance issues to a supervisor, suspicious persons to Campus Police, and adhering to WashU's rules and regulations. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • A diploma, certification or degree is not required.
  • No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.
  • No specific work experience is required for this position.
  • A Class E (MO) or Class D (IL) license and a good driving record are required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of assigned areas such as entryways, restrooms, other common areas, including stairwells, hallways, laundry areas, etc.
  • Cleaning of occupied or vacant residential units, dining facilities or other building space as determined by the business unit.
  • Dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping down flat surfaces, cleaning glass, taking out trash, replacing linens or other supplies.
  • Performing other custodial/housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Communicating daily with housekeeping supervisor to relay any issues associated with an assignment, a building or space, occupant concerns, or other building needs including supplies and equipment.
  • Reporting noticeable maintenance issues to the immediate supervisor or other designated contact.
  • Reporting any suspicious person to Campus Police.
  • Following the rules and regulations of WashU in St. Louis.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
