About The Position

Cleans and sanitizes rooms and furnishings according to established policies, procedures, and schedules to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital and related buildings. Stocks supplies in restrooms and appropriate rooms in the hospital and related buildings. The position is at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, a 444-bed hospital and part of Covenant Health.

Requirements

No minimum education is specified. Candidates need a combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the job, typically equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas according to established schedules and prescribed methods.
Assist with cleaning emergency spills observed or reported upon request.
Check assigned equipment daily for cleanliness and proper repair.
Observe and report needed repairs to equipment, furnishings, buildings, and fixtures.
Remove waste and soiled linens from work areas and place them in specified containers or bags.
Collect trash from utility rooms and other collection points and transport it to the compactor area.
Clean trash cans and reline them with plastic bags upon request.
Handle biohazardous waste properly.
Monitor supply and equipment levels and notify the supervisor when additional supplies are needed.
Inspect personally all completed tasks and assigned areas.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Complete required annual education assignments.
Work toward goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
