About The Position

The Housekeeper I plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors at the Jones County Rest Home. The position performs environmental services duties, including cleaning and sanitizing resident rooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas, to support infection prevention and resident well-being. The Housekeeper I helps ensure the facility meets cleanliness and safety standards and contributes to a positive experience for everyone at the facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written communication.
• Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform overhead lifting.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs independently and more than 50 lbs with assistance.
• Ability to push and pull carts, cleaning equipment, and supplies throughout the facility.
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and environmental services equipment.
• Ability to safely perform housekeeping duties with sufficient visual acuity, hearing, and communication abilities.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations as applicable.

Nice To Haves

• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Certification or training in infection control.
• Experience using commercial cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of resident rooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
• Follow established infection control and safety procedures.
• Use cleaning supplies and equipment safely and store them properly.
• Promptly report maintenance concerns, equipment issues, and safety hazards.
• Assist with stocking and organizing cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness standards throughout the facility.
• Support a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
• Work independently to complete assigned housekeeping duties.
• Assist with orientation and training of new personnel as assigned.
