About The Position

Visiting Angels of Longview is hiring a Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver to support senior adults and other home-care clients throughout the East Texas area, including Avinger, Longview, Jefferson, Ore City, and Gilmer. Caregivers help clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may include personal care, light housekeeping, companionship, meal preparation, shopping, mobility support, and medication reminders. Caregivers must respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role calls for competency, compassion, and professional discernment. Shifts offered include full-time, part-time, PRN, and short shifts, with 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shift options.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Provide light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, according to client ability.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
