About The Position

Visiting Angels of Lufkin is hiring Companion Caregivers to assist senior adults and home-care clients throughout the Deep East Texas area, including Livingston, Lufkin, Moscow, Corrigan, Diboll, Groveton, and Woodville. Caregivers help clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may involve personal care, household tasks, wellness support, meals, shopping, and mobility assistance. Caregivers must be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role calls for competency, compassion, and professional discernment. Full-time and part-time shifts are offered in 8-, 10-, and 12-hour durations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Compassion for vulnerable people and interest in providing meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Provide light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, according to their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including getting around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
