About The Position

Visiting Angels Corsicana is seeking compassionate Companion Caregivers to support seniors and others in need in Athens, Corsicana, Kerens, Trinidad, Powell, Malakoff, and surrounding communities. The role involves providing respectful, dignified care and companionship, with duties ranging from light housekeeping and meal preparation to mobility assistance and transportation. Caregivers may also have opportunities for advanced training in dementia care or Alzheimer’s care.

Requirements

Passion for serving others and caregiving.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
Good time management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Background in home care or elderly care.
History of community involvement.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home or outside, including attending appointments and taking walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
