About The Position

Visiting Angels of Richardson is hiring a Companion Caregiver to support senior adults and home-care clients in the local area, including Plano, Richardson, Garland, Wylie, Rockwall, Mesquite, and Forney. Caregivers help clients remain or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may involve companionship, household tasks, meal preparation, mobility assistance, and support with daily routines. Caregivers must also respond appropriately to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role offers a range of shift options and serves clients throughout the local area.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of professional caregiving experience.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Manage light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the right times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on client ability.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including getting around the house, visiting the doctor, and taking walks.
Act quickly in medical emergencies.
Report health changes or unusual circumstances.
