About The Position

Visiting Angels of Paris is hiring a Companion Caregiver to support senior adults and home-care clients in the local area, including Bonham, Sulphur Springs, Paris, Greenville, and Texarkana. Caregivers help clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may involve household tasks, meal preparation, encouragement with exercise, medication reminders, shopping, and mobility assistance. Caregivers must be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role calls for competency, compassion, and professional discernment. Full-time, part-time, and PRN shifts are offered.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Manage light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the right times.
Help clients with shopping and putting away groceries, or shop for them.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on client ability.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, visiting the doctor, and taking walks.
Respond quickly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
