About The Position

Visiting Angels of Abilene is hiring a Companion Caregiver to support senior adults and home-care clients throughout the Big Country area, including Sagerton, Stamford, and Hamlin. Caregivers help clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary, and caregivers provide companionship and assistance with daily activities while responding appropriately to medical emergencies and reporting health changes or unusual circumstances. The position offers flexibility, room for growth, and the opportunity to make a difference in the community. Shift options include part-time, 8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hour, PRN, and short shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Must pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Manage light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the right times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on client ability.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including getting around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Act quickly in medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances.
