About The Position

We are a busy family of four living in Old Greenwich, CT, seeking a part-time Household Manager to provide childcare and meal preparation support. This role is ideal for an experienced, proactive, and highly organized individual who takes pride in running a home with excellence. The position involves supporting our two young children, managing household logistics, and reducing the family's mental load. The ideal candidate will be a trusted professional who can become an extension of our family, bringing reliability and a natural fit to our home. We aim to have a helping hand for running errands, maintaining household systems, and providing loving care for our children.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional Household Manager experience in a private home or equivalent transferable experience.
  • Proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Prior childcare experience with an understanding of age-appropriate activities, routines, and safety practices.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Fully vaccinated in accordance with current American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations for caregivers of young children, including MMR, Tdap, and annual Influenza vaccination.
  • Maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Ability to keep the provided family vehicle clean, organized, fueled, and ready for daily use.

Responsibilities

  • Meal Planning and Prep: Prepare practical, make-ahead meals and ingredients; occasionally cook simple family dinners; prep healthy snacks and school lunches; reset and maintain the kitchen after cooking; build and manage weekly grocery lists, including grocery pick up.
  • Family Support & Child Assistance: Occasional school pick-ups and transportation to/from activities; provide attentive and engaging care for two children; provide occasional evening childcare for date nights; prep backpacks and clothing for school days; handle child-related errands.
  • Household Management and Organization: Maintain existing household organization systems; manage running household supply lists and restock; perform daily resets including dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, patio prep; prep home before weekly cleaner; manage drop zones (mudroom, entryway, garage); handle seasonal clothing, decor, and bedding swaps; manage donation drop-offs; prepare and reset guest rooms; water indoor and outdoor plants; assist with planning and preparing for family events and gatherings.
  • Laundry & Linens: Wash, fold, organize, and put away household laundry and linens; perform weekly linen changes; occasional ironing and steaming; keep laundry area tidy and well-stocked.
  • Inventory & Errands: Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies; manage running household supply lists and subscriptions; handle returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping; manage mail and package handling.
  • Deep Cleaning & Special Projects: Occasional deep cleans of refrigerator, stove, oven, and baseboards; organizational projects including pantry resets, closets, toys, and gear; sort, file, and organize children's artwork and seasonal clothing/toy rotations.
  • Vehicle Management: Fueling, weekly car washes, and organization of the family vehicle.
  • Administrative & Personal Assistant Support: Partner with the family to manage and maintain the household calendar, coordinating schedules, appointments, activities, and family commitments; track receipts and expenses using a dedicated household credit card.
