About The Position

We are an active family with three children (ages 4, 9, and 10) seeking a part-time House Manager & Family Assistant. Both parents work full-time, and our household is dynamic and busy with practices, games, and social events. We live on the water and frequently host friends and their children. We have established teams for cleaning and landscaping and are looking for someone to integrate seamlessly into our household ecosystem. The ideal candidate will help maintain the smooth operation of our home, allowing the family to focus more on quality time with the children. We value hard work, directness, and a good sense of humor, and we need someone who can maintain professionalism while being comfortable in a lively environment.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation required (mileage reimbursed for work-related driving).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare 3-4 dinners per week, ranging from fresh-cooked to batch-style meals, accommodating various dietary preferences.
  • Collaborate on meal planning and take ownership as preferences are established.
  • Shop in-store for groceries.
  • Handle kitchen clean-up and general kitchen maintenance.
  • Maintain existing household organization systems.
  • Perform daily resets of the home, including light tidying, surface wiping, dishwasher loading/unloading, vacuuming high-traffic areas, and trash removal.
  • Prepare the home for bi-weekly cleaners.
  • Coordinate seasonal clothing swaps for children.
  • Assist with event, holiday, and guest preparation for hosting.
  • Proactively handle small maintenance tasks such as battery replacements, light bulb changes, and smoke detector checks.
  • Perform interior cleaning of family vehicles.
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry for the household and maintain laundry area tidiness.
  • Manage the rotation of linens.
  • Coordinate dry cleaning on occasion.
  • Provide child pickups and drop-offs.
  • Offer supervision and backup childcare support.
  • Provide date night support for additional hours.
  • Support children's daily chores and other responsibilities.
  • Manage existing vendor relationships (e.g., landscapers).
  • Collaborate with the cleaning crew by flagging items and supporting their workflow.
  • Oversee boat-related contractor visits, including on-site coordination for cleaning and repair, and ensuring work completion.
  • Skim and vacuum the pool as needed (spot cleaning only).
  • Assist with seasonal property maintenance, such as wiping down outdoor furniture and winterizing the outdoor kitchen.
  • Manage shared household supply and grocery lists.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies throughout the home.
  • Oversee and manage subscriptions and recurring orders.
  • Handle returns, gift shopping, dry cleaning, and other miscellaneous errands.
  • Manage and organize incoming mail and packages, including box breakdown.
  • Maintain awareness of and proactively plan around the family calendar (meals, etc.).
  • Coordinate events and appointments for the family.
  • Track receipts and spending for work-related expenses.
  • Manage administrative tasks for family vehicles, such as registration, insurance, and maintenance scheduling.
  • Potentially assist with travel planning and logistics.
  • Perform occasional deep cleaning tasks (e.g., fridge, oven, baseboards).
  • Support children in maintaining and tidying the "drop zones" (mudroom, garage, entryway, etc.).
  • Clean humidifiers and air purifiers during winter months.
  • Manage organizational projects (e.g., closets) and suggest organizational systems.
