About The Position

The Hotel Engineering Maintenance position is a full-time role in the Engineering Department at The Guest House at Graceland. Under the direction of the Engineering Director, the employee assists with daily maintenance needs, repairs, preventive maintenance, construction projects, and upkeep of the hotel and its property. Working hours and days are variable and flexible, including weekends, evenings, holidays, overtime, and on-call work as business needs require. Benefits are available after successful completion of a 60-day probationary period. The role involves maintaining the safety, security, and appearance of the hotel and its grounds; responding to maintenance issues and complaints; and assisting with work across multiple trades and hotel areas. Applicants must pass a background check and pre-employment drug test. The position requires a current driver’s license and an identification badge and uniform. It will remain open until filled.

Requirements

Background in all areas of maintenance.
Some knowledge of general construction.
Knowledge of power tools and equipment and their proper usage.
Demonstrated construction and/or maintenance experience.
Experience with swimming pool maintenance.
Ability to handle a heavy workload and work under deadline pressure and competing needs.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and work with minimum supervision.
Ability to perceive and handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to deal successfully with a wide range of people.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems, comprehend mechanics, and demonstrate good mechanical aptitude.
Must be able to work flexible hours and days, overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call as required.
Must have a current driver’s license.
Must be able to make quick decisions in emergency or disaster situations.
Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.
Must wear an identification badge and uniform and maintain a neat, clean, and healthy appearance.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily maintenance issues and ensure they are addressed promptly.
Assist with resolving maintenance problems and complaints or refer them to the appropriate person.
Assist with maintaining the hotel in all areas to ensure safety and appearance.
Assist with general repairs, preventive maintenance, and construction projects.
Maintain proper security on buildings and properties as required.
Install hardware and replace, update, and maintain lighting.
Assist with seasonal functions, including Christmas decorations.
Assist with painting projects and gypsum board repair or installation.
Assist with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work as required.
Perform daily maintenance of the swimming pool and patio area.
Empty trash and maintain the outside perimeters of the property.
Assist other departments as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Monitor and maintain property safety conditions, including in response to weather conditions.
Maintain accurate maintenance records.
Pick up supplies, using familiarity with streets and landmarks in the Memphis area.
