About The Position

The Host works as a Front of House Team Member at The Port, delivering prompt, personalized hospitality in a warm, welcoming, and elevated dining atmosphere. The role includes greeting guests, answering questions about menu items, and serving beverages to restaurant guests, with the goal of ensuring guest satisfaction. The position also involves maintaining knowledge of food and beverage offerings, hotel services, and local attractions; helping keep the restaurant clean and prepared; handling cash and shift-end financial reconciliation as required; and coordinating with other departments to ensure timely service.

Requirements

Three to six months of related customer service experience, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Good verbal, written, and communication skills.
Attention to detail and strong interpersonal relationships with guests and employees.

Responsibilities

Greet all visitors to the restaurant.
Execute service in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintain knowledge of food, cocktail, liquor, wine, and beer products to enhance the guest experience.
Know hotel services and features, as well as local attractions and activities, to respond accurately to guest inquiries.
Take ownership of requests and explore opportunities to add value to the job and enhance the property's reputation.
Assist in maintaining general cleanliness of the restaurant.
Perform assigned preparatory duties, such as polishing, folding, assisting with table setup, and ensuring reservation accuracy and details.
Comply with hotel, local, state, and federal regulations for safe and proper food and alcohol service.
Handle cash accurately and reconcile financials at the end of the shift as required.
Coordinate activities with all departments to provide services efficiently and on time.
