About The Position
The host or hostess is the critical first impression of the restaurant and is empowered to create memorable guest experiences at Lions Den, the restaurant at The Stoneleigh, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The restaurant features concepts from Chef Michael White and is scheduled to open May 1, 2026. The role welcomes and seats guests, supports reservations and special functions, maintains dining-room setup, and coordinates communication between shifts and management. The host must communicate effectively with guests and associates, respond positively to customer concerns, and move through a crowded room to seat guests, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Ability to comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders, and similar written materials.
- Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
- Ability to move throughout a crowded room to seat guests, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to handle customer complaints and concerns in a friendly, positive manner by listening, demonstrating empathy, and providing proactive solutions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Meet and greet guests as they arrive, offer seating choices, escort them to their table, and present the menu.
- Read, maintain, and make daily entries in the logbook to coordinate communication between shifts and management.
- Maintain proper setup of the dining room.
- Receive and record reservations and make necessary arrangements for restaurant reservations and special functions.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
