About The Position

The Host(ess)/Cashier at Serafina San Juan welcomes guests, manages seating and reservations, and helps ensure an efficient, enjoyable dining experience. The role coordinates with servers, bussers, kitchen staff, and management to support smooth restaurant operations and uphold service standards. It also involves maintaining the host station and lobby, assisting with phone calls and guest inquiries, following safety and quality standards, and supporting the team with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Hospitality-oriented.
• Knowledge of the Step of Service.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.
• Knowledge of reservation systems and basic computer proficiency.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods.
• Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.

• Previous experience as a host in a similar restaurant environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly upon arrival and escort them to their tables.
• Manage the seating chart and reservation system to support accurate seating and efficient table turnover.
• Handle guest inquiries, requests, and seating preferences tactfully and efficiently.
• Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists.
• Communicate with guests to manage expectations and enhance their dining experience.
• Coordinate with servers, kitchen staff, management, bussers, and other restaurant staff to ensure smooth, seamless service.
• Assist with reservations, guest profile updates, and seating arrangements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the host/hostess station and in the lobby.
• Handle phone calls and guest inquiries about reservations and dining options.
• Uphold the restaurant’s service and hospitality standards and maintain a professional, courteous demeanor.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance; protect confidential information and company assets.
• Follow company safety policies, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to a supervisor, and complete safety training and certifications.
• Build positive working relationships, support common team goals, and listen and respond appropriately to coworkers’ concerns.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
