About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Hospital Phlebotomist to join its team at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama. The role involves collecting blood and other specimens, accurately recording patient information, preparing specimens for testing, and providing customer service to patients. The position also includes billing and administrative tasks, maintaining logs, and traveling to additional sites when needed.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with rotating weekends and holidays. Additional days and hours may be required as business needs require. Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits, subject to the stated exceptions for certain schedules and employee categories.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification, completion of a phlebotomy training program, or at least three months of phlebotomy experience.
• If qualifying through certification or training rather than work experience, the certification or program must be from an accredited agency.
• Proven track record of exceptional customer service.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfort working under minimal supervision.
• Reliable transportation.
• Flexibility to work overtime.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections using venipuncture and capillary techniques for patients of all age groups.
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, and other purposes.
• Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Process billing information and collect payments as necessary.
• Prepare collected specimens for testing and analysis.
• Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
• Provide superior customer service to patients.
• Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
• Travel to additional sites when needed.
