About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice provides compassionate hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and families in their homes across Boston, Brookline, Quincy, Braintree, Dedham, Newton, Medford, and the surrounding metropolitan area. The veterinarian provides end-of-life care at a thoughtful pace, listening to families, answering questions, and helping them say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role involves independent mobile practice, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and access to experienced colleagues for support. Schedule options range from two days per week to full-time, with self-managed scheduling available. Weekend work is arranged around the veterinarian’s preferences: the veterinarian chooses four weekend days per month. Compensation is guaranteed and ranges from $70,000 to $150,000 depending on schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. The employer does not require a non-compete agreement.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
