About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Westborough, Holden, Grafton, Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and the surrounding metropolitan area. Care is delivered in clients’ homes, where veterinarians help families navigate end-of-life decisions and say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role offers a slower-paced practice with a few appointments per day, allowing time to listen, explain, and honor each pet’s story. Veterinarians practice independently while traveling to appointments, with support from thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues. Scheduling options range from two days per week to full time, including self-managed part-time scheduling. Full-time schedules may be five or four days per week, with guaranteed salary and quarterly bonus opportunities; two- and three-day schedules have prorated compensation. Guaranteed compensation ranges from $60,000 to $135,000 depending on schedule. Weekend work is arranged by choosing four weekend days per month. Candidates undergo license verification, a background check, and a driving-record review before starting.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving-record review before the start date.
