About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Plymouth, New Bedford, Marshfield, Kingston, Wareham, Massachusetts, and the surrounding metropolitan area. Care is provided in pets’ homes, at a measured pace that allows time to listen to families, answer questions, and support dignified goodbyes. Veterinarians practice independently while receiving onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. The position offers scheduling options ranging from two to five days per week, including self-managed part-time scheduling. Full-time options include five-day and four-day schedules, with guaranteed salary and quarterly bonus opportunities. Compensation is prorated according to schedule, with guaranteed compensation ranging from $60,000 to $135,000. Veterinarians choose four weekend days per month rather than following a fixed weekend rotation. Heartstrings does not require non-compete agreements.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care in clients’ homes.

Practice independently while communicating with and drawing support from the hospice team.
