About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Boston, Brookline, Quincy, Braintree, Dedham, Newton, Medford, and the surrounding metropolitan area. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, with time for veterinarians to listen to families, explain options, answer questions, and help pets pass with dignity and peace. The role offers independent mobile practice with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Schedules are available for two to five days per week, including full-time and self-managed part-time options. Compensation is guaranteed and prorated according to the selected schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. The role has no non-compete agreement. Veterinarians choose four weekend days per month rather than following a fixed weekend rotation.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 90 lbs with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
Listen to families, explain care, answer questions, and help them say goodbye with dignity and peace.
Practice independently while traveling to appointments in the service area.
Choose four weekend days per month to work.
