About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice provides compassionate hospice and in-home euthanasia care for pets in the comfort of their homes. The veterinarian serves families across Charlotte and surrounding communities in North Carolina and South Carolina, helping them navigate end-of-life decisions and say goodbye with dignity and peace. The work is conducted in homes, with a small number of appointments each day and time to listen, explain, and honor each pet’s story. Veterinarians practice independently while traveling but receive onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Scheduling options range from two to five days per week, including self-managed part-time scheduling. Compensation depends on the selected schedule: five-day full-time is listed at a guaranteed salary of $135,000 plus quarterly bonus opportunities; four-day full-time is listed at $110,000 plus quarterly bonus opportunities; and other schedules receive prorated compensation. The stated guaranteed compensation range is $65,000 to $155,000. The role has no non-compete agreement. Weekend work is arranged by choosing four weekend days per month.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
- Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
Responsibilities
- Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families.
- Explain care and end-of-life decisions with kindness and help families say goodbye with dignity and peace.
- Travel to clients’ homes and practice independently in the field.
