About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in the Sacramento metropolitan area and surrounding communities. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, allowing veterinarians to spend unhurried time listening to families, explaining care, answering questions, and helping families say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role involves independent mobile practice, supported by thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues who are available for support. Schedules are self-managed, with options ranging from two to five days per week. Weekend availability is arranged by choosing four weekend days per month. Compensation is based on schedule. The posting lists guaranteed annual salaries of $145,000 for a five-day schedule and $120,000 for a four-day schedule, plus quarterly bonus opportunities. Two- and three-day schedules have prorated compensation, with guaranteed compensation ranging from $65,000 to $145,000 depending on schedule. Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
