About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care in Sacramento and the surrounding metropolitan area. The veterinarian visits families at home, giving them time to ask questions and say goodbye to their pets with dignity and peace. The work is mobile and performed independently, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for support. Schedules range from two days per week to full-time, with self-managed scheduling options. Compensation is guaranteed and prorated according to the selected schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. Five-day full-time schedules offer a $145,000 guaranteed salary, and four-day full-time schedules offer a $120,000 guaranteed salary. Guaranteed compensation ranges from $65,000 to $145,000, depending on schedule. Weekend days are selected by the veterinarian: four weekend days per month. The employer states that it does not require non-competes. Candidates will complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before their start date.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent (DVM/VMD/BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
