About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Frederick, Hagerstown, Maryland, and the surrounding metropolitan area. The role focuses on unhurried, compassionate end-of-life care in pets’ homes, helping families understand their options and say goodbye with dignity and peace. Veterinarians work independently in a mobile setting, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for support. The position offers schedule options ranging from two days per week to full-time, including self-managed scheduling. Full-time schedules are available across five or four days per week; two- and three-day schedules are described as part-time options. Guaranteed compensation ranges from $65,000 to $150,000 depending on schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. The role includes flexibility to choose four weekend days per month. Heartstrings does not require a non-compete agreement.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
