About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families in Alexandria & Arlington, Virginia. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice veterinary medicine without the pressures of a traditional waiting room, double-booked appointments, or corporate production dashboards. The focus is on providing compassionate end-of-life care with ample time for each patient and family. Heartstrings Pet Hospice is a privately held, family-owned, and doctor-led practice that explicitly does not use non-compete contracts, ensuring veterinarians have career freedom. The ideal candidate is experienced in handling difficult conversations and seeks a more meaningful pace than general or emergency practice, or is looking to build a schedule around family commitments.
Requirements
- DVM/VMD/BVMS degree
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to Work Independently in a Mobile Environment
- Weekend Availability (Rotational)
- Ability to Lift up to 45 lbs Unassisted

Responsibilities
- Provide in-home hospice and euthanasia services for pets.
- Conduct difficult conversations with families with compassion, dignity, and respect.
- Work independently in a mobile veterinary environment.
- Communicate professionally with the team and families.
- Be available for rotational weekend duties.
