About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families in Baton Rouge, Merrydale, and Prairieville, Louisiana. This role offers a unique practice environment free from waiting rooms, double-booked appointments, and corporate production dashboards, allowing veterinarians to focus on providing compassionate end-of-life care. The practice is privately held, family-owned, and doctor-led, and notably does not utilize non-compete agreements, distinguishing itself from national and private-equity-backed networks. This position is ideal for experienced veterinarians seeking a less demanding pace than general or emergency practice, those returning to medicine after a break, or individuals looking to build a schedule around family commitments. The ideal candidate excels at difficult conversations and finds fulfillment in providing meaningful end-of-life care.

Requirements

• DVM/VMD/BVMS degree
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to Work Independently in a Mobile Environment
• Weekend Availability (Rotational)
• Ability to Lift up to 45 lbs Unassisted
• Professional Communication Skills

Responsibilities

• Practice veterinary medicine in a mobile, in-home environment.
• Provide hospice and euthanasia services to pet families.
• Work independently in a mobile setting.
• Be available for rotational weekend coverage.
• Lift up to 45 lbs unassisted.
