About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Lexington Park, Mechanicsville, La Plata, Huntington, Maryland, and the surrounding metropolitan area. The role focuses on helping families navigate end-of-life decisions and saying goodbye to their pets with dignity and peace in the comfort of home. Veterinarians practice independently while traveling to appointments, with support from thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues. The role is designed to allow time for a few appointments each day, without double-booking or rushing visits. Schedules are self-managed, with options ranging from two to five days per week. Weekend days are chosen by the veterinarian, who selects four weekend days per month. Compensation is guaranteed and ranges from $45,000 to $130,000 depending on schedule, with generous quarterly bonus opportunities. The position offers full-time and part-time schedule options. Heartstrings does not require a non-compete agreement.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
