About The Position

Care Initiatives Hospice is seeking a compassionate registered nurse to provide comprehensive, personalized hospice care to patients and families. Care is delivered where patients are most comfortable, including their homes, long-term care communities, assisted living residences, and hospitals. The role takes call from Friday at 4:30 p.m. until Monday at 8:00 a.m.; some scheduled visits may also be assigned. The nurse supports patients and families during weekends, evenings, and overnight, responding to urgent needs and helping ensure comfort with compassion, integrity, respect, and dignity.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• At least two years of recent clinical nursing experience.
• Current, valid CPR certification.
• Patience and a supportive, sensitive approach to supporting patients, families, and caregivers.
• Willingness and ability to provide care in facility and patient-home settings.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patients’ and families’ emergent needs during weekends, evenings, and overnight.
• Assist patients and caregivers and provide available medications.
• Teach and support patients, families, and caregivers regarding comfort needs related to pain, breathlessness, dying or transitioning, and support at the time of death.
• Provide care in patient homes and facility settings.
• Complete scheduled visits as assigned.
