About The Position

The Hospice Aide provides direct patient care under the direction of an RN and in accordance with the Hospice Aide/Homemaker Plan of Care. The role supports patients with safe transfers and ambulation, communicates and documents changes and care provided to promote continuity, and follows accepted infection control principles. The aide also communicates respectfully with patients, families, and coworkers, submits documentation promptly, and follows applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred or GED.
Unencumbered certification according to the applicable Nurse Aide Registry.
Current CNA license.
At least one year of experience as a Hospice Aide or Nursing Assistant in a hospital, nursing home, home health agency, hospice, or long-term care facility.
Demonstrated interest in the welfare of ill and elderly people and a compassionate approach to care.
High integrity, including maintaining confidential information.
Current driver's license, reliable transportation, and ongoing valid and current auto liability insurance.

Responsibilities

Practice accepted infection control principles.
Promote positive, supportive, and respectful communication with patients, families, and other employees.
Submit all documentation in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as required.
Ensure overall compliance with local, state, and federal laws, Medicare regulations, and established personnel policies and procedures.
