About The Position

Amedisys is seeking a full-time hospice aide to provide personal and supportive care to patients in their homes. The role involves assisting with mobility, transfers, range-of-motion activities, positioning, meals, prescribed exercises, and household tasks. The aide follows written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, and observes, reports, and documents changes in patient status. The position is full-time, day shift, and requires a current Connecticut CNA license. Home health or hospice experience within the last 12 months is preferred. Compensation is $19–$22 per hour and may vary by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, in accordance with state requirements; the posting specifies a Connecticut CNA license.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Home health or hospice experience within the last 12 months is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients.
• Use safety principles and proper body mechanics when assisting with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion activities, positioning, and other personal and supportive care.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as assigned.
• Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observe, report, and document changes in a patient's status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
• Follow written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, received before services are delivered.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
• Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
