About The Position

Amedisys is hiring a full-time hospice aide to provide personal and supportive care to patients in Polk County. The position is scheduled for days, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Home health or hospice experience within the last 12 months is preferred. The role requires a Florida CNA license and involves following written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care.

The aide supports patients with personal care, mobility, transfers, positioning, exercises, meals, feeding, and household tasks. The role also includes observing, documenting, and reporting changes in patient status, performing and recording simple urine tests, and carrying out other assigned duties. Compensation is $18–$20 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, in accordance with state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.
• Florida CNA license.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients.
• Use safety principles and proper body mechanics while assisting with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion activities, positioning, and household chores.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as assigned.
• Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observe, report, and document changes in a patient's status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
• Follow written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care; receive written instructions before delivering services.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
• Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
