About The Position

Hospice of Wichita Falls is seeking a compassionate Hospice Aide, C.N.A., to provide care to patients in its inpatient center. The role supports the total plan of care by assisting patients with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting. The aide coordinates with an assigned RN for care direction, communicates patient condition changes and care updates, and documents care as it is provided so other team members can understand the patient’s needs and what is working. The position focuses on meeting patients’ greatest needs with compassionate, attentive care and supporting patients and families as illness threatens life.

This is an as-needed PRN position with a 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. schedule.

Requirements

• Hold a current Certificate of Nurse Aide.
• Ability to understand the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual concerns and problems of terminally ill patients.
• Possess critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrate compassion.
• Communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care as part of the total plan of care, including personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting.
• Communicate with the assigned RN for direction on how to provide care.
• Share care activities and patient updates with the assigned RN at the end of the day.
• Communicate changes or updates in patients’ conditions.
• Document care as it is provided, including information that helps other team members understand the patient’s needs and what is working.
• Provide attentive, compassionate care focused on each patient’s greatest needs.
