Hospice Admissions RN
About The Position
As an admissions nurse at VITAS Healthcare, you will be the first face of hospice for patients and families. You will often have their first in-depth discussion about end-of-life care, and your approach will help set expectations for the journey ahead. You will meet with patients and families, explain hospice care and VITAS services, listen empathetically to each patient’s needs, wishes, and beliefs, help determine whether hospice is appropriate, and support a comfortable transition for patients who choose VITAS. You will work with a team to provide compassionate, personalized care that honors each patient’s wishes. Most admissions nurses work four 10-hour shifts per week, though schedules may vary. The role involves traveling throughout an assigned service area to hospitals, nursing facilities, and patient residences as admissions calls arrive, where you will assess patients’ needs for care.
Requirements
- Current RN license.
- Reliable transportation.
- Previous experience in a physician’s office, hospital, long-term care, or assisted living facility.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred.

- Travel to hospitals, nursing facilities, and patient residences to assess patients’ care needs.
