Hospice Admissions RN
About The Position
As an admissions nurse at VITAS Healthcare, you are often the first person to introduce hospice to patients and families. You discuss end-of-life care and help set expectations for the journey ahead. You travel within an assigned service area to meet patients and families at hospitals, nursing facilities, and patient residences, assessing each patient’s need for care as calls arrive. You educate patients and families about hospice care and VITAS services, listen empathetically to patients’ needs, wishes, and beliefs, help determine whether hospice is the right path, and support a comfortable transition for patients who choose VITAS. The role is centered on compassionate, personalized care that honors each patient’s wishes. Most admissions nurses work four 10-hour shifts per week, although schedules may vary. The position involves spending the workday traveling within the assigned service area.
Requirements
- Current RN license.
- Reliable transportation.
- Previous experience in a physician’s office, hospital, long-term care, or assisted living facility.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
