About The Position

Prep Academy Tutors of Baltimore County is seeking a certified educator to provide personalized, in-person homeschool instruction to a middle school student in the student's private home in Pikesville, Maryland. The teacher will teach middle school general education across core academic subjects, tailoring instruction to the student's learning style, abilities, goals, and academic needs. The schedule is two hours per day, five days per week, for 10 hours weekly.

The role focuses on strengthening academic skills and confidence, fostering effective learning habits and independence, and building a positive relationship with the student and family. The teacher will monitor progress and communicate feedback to the family and tutoring team. The position requires travel to the student's home using a reliable personal vehicle. Employment requirements, assignment availability, and scheduling will be discussed during hiring.

Requirements

• Hold a valid U.S. teaching license or certificate and be authorized and qualified to teach in Baltimore, Maryland.
• Have experience working with middle school students through homeschooling, classroom teaching, tutoring, or similar educational roles.
• Have strong knowledge of the middle school curriculum and the ability to teach across all core academic subjects.
• Communicate clearly and explain challenging concepts in approachable, student-friendly ways.
• Be patient, reliable, organized, and committed to student growth.
• Be able to tailor teaching approaches to individual student needs.
• Be willing to complete applicable screening and background-check requirements.
• Have reliable transportation, access to a personal vehicle, and the ability to travel to the student's home in Pikesville, Maryland.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, one-on-one instructional sessions in the student's home.
• Teach middle school general education across math, English, reading, writing, science, social studies, and other middle school curriculum areas.
• Help the student strengthen foundational skills, master challenging concepts, and complete assignments and academic coursework.
• Create a positive, encouraging learning environment where the student feels comfortable asking questions and taking on challenges.
• Adapt instructional strategies to the student's learning style, abilities, and academic goals.
• Monitor academic progress and communicate meaningful feedback to the family and tutoring team.
• Encourage effective study habits, organization, time management, and independent problem-solving skills.
