About The Position

The Home Meal Deliverer drives their own vehicle over an established route to deliver prepared meals to homebound elders. The role includes checking filled trays for completeness, delivering meals in conformance with standards, communicating client complaints and observed abnormal conditions to a supervisor, completing records and reports, and maintaining the condition and daily sanitation of delivery equipment. Meals must be handed directly to clients and delivered face to face. The employee may also perform other duties and reports hazardous situations to supervisors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current Class C driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as required by the insurance carrier.
• Own transportation and personal auto liability insurance.
• Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Drive a personal vehicle over an established route to deliver prepared meals to homebound elderly clients.
• Examine filled trays for completeness and ensure food is delivered in conformance with standards.
• Listen to and report client complaints to a supervisor.
• Report abnormal conditions observed at clients’ homes.
• Record information and complete reports.
• Ensure delivery equipment is in good condition and sanitize it daily.
• Deliver the prepared meal plate directly to the client in hand and/or face to face at all times.
• Report hazardous situations to supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
