About The Position

A part-time household management role supporting a busy family with two young children at their home on a 10-acre rural property in Searsboro, Iowa. The family includes one parent who works remotely full-time and another who runs a business and travels frequently during warmer months. The home is lived-in and has ongoing projects, and the family is seeking consistent, trustworthy support from someone proactive, organized, flexible, self-directed, and attentive to detail. The role begins at 10–16 hours per week, with 10 hours guaranteed, and may expand in hours and scope as the family’s needs evolve. Monday and Wednesday are preferred, with eight-hour shifts, though the schedule is flexible; occasional evening availability may be needed as the relationship develops. Compensation is $28–$32 per hour, depending on experience, with mileage reimbursement for work-related errands. The start date is ASAP. Responsibilities include planning five dinners each week, preparing ingredients and meal components in advance, coordinating grocery orders, and maintaining the kitchen. The Household Manager also supports household administration, including maintaining the Skylight calendar, organizing mail and documents, and tracking receipts and expenses. Other duties include light tidying, laundry and linen care, managing supplies, orders, subscriptions, packages and returns, coordinating upkeep for six family vehicles, and maintaining pet supplies and administering flea and tick medication as needed. The position may also involve occasional backup childcare, preparing children’s backpacks and clothing, date-night or travel support as the relationship develops, holiday or guest preparation, and occasional deep-cleaning and organization projects. Applicants must have at least three years of experience in a household manager or family assistant role, current CPR and First Aid certification, authorization to work in the United States, reliable personal transportation, and the ability to navigate stairs during regular daily tasks. A smoke-free environment must be maintained. Familiarity with the Skylight calendar app is a significant plus; experience with a similar scheduling system is also valued. A background check is required. Applicants should submit a short introduction letter, an updated resume, and three professional references with current contact information.
