Weekend Home Carer & Companion
About The Position
Home Instead is hiring a Weekend Home Carer & Companion to support clients in Wolverhampton, Wombourne, and Kingswinford. The service provides home visits of at least one hour, with an average visit of about 80 minutes, and focuses on companionship and preventing loneliness. Client visits are arranged within a pre-agreed local area, taking travel time and distance into account. After completing training, carers are matched with clients and visit them in their own homes. They help clients feel comfortable and supported, build trusting relationships, and provide assistance ranging from companionship and errands to meal preparation and personal care. The role offers flexible shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings on weekends.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Own reliable transportation and willingness to travel across local areas.
- Good timekeeping, organisation, and reliability.
- Compassionate and kind approach.
- Treat clients with dignity and respect.
- Good listening skills and clear communication, with the ability to build relationships with clients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Accompany clients to appointments and social events.
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks.
- Collect prescriptions, shop for essentials, and complete other errands.
- Carry out light housework, laundry, and ironing.
- Provide medication reminders.
- Assist clients with getting out of bed in the morning or going to bed at the end of the day.
- Run a bath or shower and stay nearby in case assistance is needed.
- Assist with dressing, undressing, and personal care when required.
- Provide companionship and social company, showing friendliness, warmth, and empathy.
- Build trusting relationships and communicate politely with clients and their families.
- Support clients with shopping, cooking, and personal hygiene.
