This full-time position is responsible for navigating various electronic health record (EHR) and computer applications to support patient care, care management initiatives, revenue cycle, Health Maintenance, and regulatory requirements. The role involves receiving, sorting, preparing, and scanning internal and external clinical documentation into the EHR, as well as analyzing non-interfaced patient laboratory reports for accuracy and compliance with regulations. The abstractor will utilize optical character recognition software for data entry, identify and enter laboratory tests, and validate data points. They will also ensure the correct patient, encounter, and order are located or created, and that documentation is correctly paginated and classified. A key aspect of the role is ensuring the appropriate security, protection, and destruction of electronic and physical PHI in accordance with HIPAA. The position requires adaptability to evolving laboratory tests and regulations, critical thinking for issue identification and troubleshooting, and timely escalation of concerns. Quality assurance of scanned documentation and verification of electronic information against paper documents are also crucial. The abstractor will communicate with various stakeholders to provide education and STAT laboratory data entry services. This role is eligible for benefits and involves a standard Monday-Friday schedule with weekend rotation, with the possibility of remote work for approved states.
