Volunteer - Thrift Jewelry Sales
About The Position
This volunteer role focuses on supporting the mission of Hillcrest Transitional Housing through activities in the thrift jewelry sales area. Volunteers will interact with shoppers, donors, staff, and other volunteers, contributing to the financial support of Hillcrest's programs. The role involves sorting, pricing, tagging, and merchandising jewelry, as well as maintaining a clean display and sorting area. The impact of this role includes providing excellent customer service, generating funds for programs that assist individuals, youth, and families transitioning from homelessness, and diverting unsellable donations from landfills.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Compassion and respect for all people, including donors, shoppers, clients, residents, staff, and other volunteers.
- Commit to a minimum weekly shift of three hours.

- Initial training with a volunteer buddy or staff member on jewelry handling, sorting, pricing, and merchandising.
- Ongoing support from site management staff regarding policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Promote and support the mission of Hillcrest Transitional Housing in interactions with shoppers, donors, staff, and other volunteers.
- Sort, price, tag, and merchandise jewelry as instructed by management.
- Maintain a clean and orderly display area and sorting area.
- Provide superior customer service to shoppers.
- Follow jewelry handling processes.
