Volunteer - Thrift Store (Art & Frames)
About The Position
This role involves supporting the mission of Hillcrest Transitional Housing by assisting in the Art and Frames department of the thrift store. Volunteers will interact with shoppers, donors, staff, and other volunteers, contributing to the care and hospitality provided. The position directly impacts the funding for Hillcrest Transitional Housing programs and ensures quality merchandise is available at discounted prices. The sustained outcome includes providing financial and material support for individuals, youth, and families transitioning from homelessness to self-sufficiency, while also diverting unsellable donations from landfills.
Requirements
- Commit to a minimum weekly shift of three hours.
- Compassion and respect for all people, including donors, shoppers, clients, residents, staff, and other volunteers.

- Identify valuable art and place in eBay section per eBay guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Promote and support the mission of Hillcrest Transitional Housing in our interactions with shoppers, donors, staff, and other volunteers.
- Sort, price, tag, and merchandise art and frames as instructed by management.
- Maintain a clean and orderly display area and sorting area.
- Identify valuable art and place in eBay section per eBay guidelines.
- Follow Hillcrest guidelines for quality, pricing, and merchandising.
- Ability to lift, sort, and hang items that can be heavy or bulky.
