About The Position

Freire Schools is hiring a Spanish Teacher for Freire Charter School Wilmington, an 8th–12th grade charter school in Wilmington, Delaware. As part of the instructional team, the teacher will deliver high-quality, standards-aligned Spanish instruction that develops students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, encourages critical thinking, and supports high achievement. The role includes creating a respectful, achievement-focused classroom culture, using and developing curriculum and learning materials, communicating with families about student progress, and collaborating with staff through professional development. The school emphasizes equity, love, critical thinking, and diversity, including celebrating the languages and cultures students bring to the classroom. The annual salary range is $50,000–$90,000, with compensation based on experience and qualifications. Certified teachers in Delaware entering their first year start at $55,000.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Valid state teaching certification, or the ability and willingness to obtain certification.
Strong content knowledge and grasp of the Spanish language.
Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
At least 2 years of successful experience working with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

Use content-specific curriculum and create learning materials that promote critical thinking and problem solving.
Establish consistent communication with families about individual student progress and school-related information.
Participate actively in professional development and collaborate with staff to support students’ needs.
