About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks a High School English Language Arts Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year at KIPP Bold City High School, located at the McDuff campus at 1440 McDuff Avenue North in Jacksonville, Florida. Bold City’s vision is to build a high school centered on student voice and choice. The school offers honors and Advanced Placement classes, career and technical education, extracurricular activities, and sports, with additional career tracks and dual enrollment planned as the school grows. Teachers are expected to align with the school’s student voice and choice philosophy and remain flexible in meeting students’ interests.

Teachers are responsible for at least one subject area and for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and performing other duties as assigned. Full responsibilities are ultimately outlined by the school leader. High school lead teachers will likely have a homeroom and teach several classes in their subject area, though teaching loads may vary. Electives are assigned by the school leader according to student interest and teachers’ certification areas. Foreign language and elective teachers should apply through separate postings.

Teachers work Monday through Friday. High school staff hours are 6:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; student hours are 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with student dismissal at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Wednesday early release supports weekly professional development and content team meetings. Occasional meetings or special school events may occur outside regular hours. Wellness Wednesdays are exceptions when all staff leave at student dismissal.

The current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000, with compensation commensurate with experience. Eligible stipends may be additional to the salary in an offer letter. The posting reports a historical average of $13,000 in millage stipends for certified New-to-KIPP instructional staff in the current payout year, in addition to TSIA stipends; other stipend opportunities may also be available. Stipend offerings are subject to change each school year. Lead teachers receive individualized coaching and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Relevant Florida teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
• At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.

Nice To Haves

• Florida Department of Education certification in English 6–12.
• Florida Reading Endorsement or reading competency coursework in progress.

• Experience teaching honors-level or AP-level courses in a high school.
