About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in an inpatient setting. The role involves providing full-time coverage, Tuesday through Friday, with 10-hour shifts. The average census is 10 patients, and the practice includes 4 Physicians and 4 APPs. This position is at a Level II trauma center and serves an adult patient population. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. Credentialing typically takes 90 days.

Requirements

• Active Washington licensure
• Board certification
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 1-year Hematology/Oncology experience or equivalent
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
• Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Washington OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Washington
• National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
• Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
• Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
