Adventureland Park 2027 - Helping Hands (Age 15)
About The Position
Adventureland is hiring a seasonal Helping Hands host for its 2027 park season. Hosts are cross-trained to support multiple park departments, including Admissions, Food & Beverage, Retail, Rides, Aquatics, and Park Services. They help the park run smoothly during peak attendance and staffing needs by assisting guests and performing duties in assigned areas. Applicants must be at least 15 years old; work on rides requires applicants to be at least 16 under Iowa Child Labor Laws. Lifeguard duties may apply and require passing the applicable swim tests and, for 15-year-olds, Ellis certification.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years old to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws; must be at least 16 to work on rides.
- Must pass admissions training.
- Applicants who are 15 years old must pass Ellis.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- For applicable lifeguard duties, ability to successfully perform swim tests, water rescues, and assists.
- Ability to comply with uniform policies.
- Safety-oriented mindset and understanding of the importance of complying with federal, state, and local aquatics safety regulations.
- Willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions.
- Guest-focused approach and ability to work well with other hosts and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.

- Spanish or other bilingual language skills.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist guests in a friendly, professional manner across multiple areas of the park.
- Sell and redeem tickets, assist with park entry, and resolve guest inquiries.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages according to safety guidelines.
- Operate retail POS systems and assist with merchandise stocking and display.
- Safely operate rides and attractions according to park protocols, subject to age requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness in park areas, including restrooms, dining areas, and walkways.
- When applicable, monitor pools and water attractions as a certified lifeguard and respond to emergencies.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and operating procedures in every assigned area.
- Perform opening and closing duties and assist other departments as required.
- Perform other duties assigned by leadership.
