About The Position

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy equipment at a recycling facility, landfill, or transfer station. The role supports the efficient and safe transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and/or compacting of waste or soil. Operators inspect and maintain equipment, monitor waste for unacceptable materials, complete reports, and follow company safety policies and procedures. The position also involves keeping the shop clean and maintaining a positive working environment with customers, vendors, coworkers, and management.

Requirements

Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
Good time-management skills to complete assigned responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Good follow-through, including the ability to adhere to a work schedule and address challenges as they arise.
Ability to adhere to company policies and rules, promote company safety standards, and avoid inappropriate risks.
Pride in work and a commitment to achieving goals.

Responsibilities

Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections in accordance with company policy, ensuring windows, lights, mirrors, and rear-view cameras are clean.
Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders, following proper safety standards.
Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
Monitor equipment condition to keep it operationally ready and minimize downtime; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
Perform and document minor equipment service, referring more complicated mechanical issues to the Maintenance Shop.
Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary reports, and report necessary repairs to a supervisor.
Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
Ensure the shop is clean, serviced, and stored at the completion of each shift.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Maintain a positive work environment through effective interactions with customers, clients, vendors, coworkers, and management.
