About The Position

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Commercial Driver to operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front- or rear-end load-lift attachments. The driver picks up containers of waste or recyclable material, which may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup staging area. When the truck reaches legal load capacity, the driver transports the material to a disposal, transfer, or recycling facility. The role involves navigating high-traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots; skilled backing maneuvers are essential. Drivers follow assigned routes, complete vehicle inspections and end-of-day documentation, communicate service issues and customer requests, and work with the Route Manager to improve route efficiency. The position requires a CDL and previous qualifying vehicle-operating experience. Work is primarily outdoors and/or in a vehicle monitored by video and GPS, with frequent physical effort and exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience within the last seven years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL, or equivalent military driving experience.
  • CDL Class A or B with an air brake endorsement.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, including previous employment, criminal history, and motor vehicle record review.
  • Physical ability to exert effort handling objects over 50 pounds frequently and to push, pull, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Motor coordination and dexterity involving arms, hands, fingers, and legs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the vehicle in accordance with WIN Waste safety rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document them using the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
  • Immediately report unsafe situations and service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attend required training programs, briefings, and meetings.
  • Work with the Route Manager to improve route efficiency and identify best practices.
  • Notify the Route Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Report service interruptions and potential safety hazards, including blocked containers and closed lots, streets, or alleyways.
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or the Route Manager.
  • Identify and report containers that need repair or replacement.
  • Reconcile the number of containers on the route with the service level listed on the service list.
  • Completely empty containers and leave customer locations clean and free of debris.
  • Complete and submit customer tickets when excessive yardage must be removed.
  • Position and return containers on customer property with lids properly replaced, enclosure doors closed and secured, and driveways and traffic unobstructed.
  • Follow route assignments and complete end-of-day documentation and checkout.
  • Perform duties as scheduled and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
  • Communicate and act in a manner that supports positive relationships with customers, clients, vendors, coworkers, and management.
