About The Position

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Commercial Driver to operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front- or rear-end load lift attachments. The driver picks up waste or recyclable material from containers and transports it to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when the truck reaches legal load capacity. Containers may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup staging area. The work involves navigating high-traffic and congested roads, driveways, alleyways, and lots; skilled backing maneuvers are essential. The Commercial Driver follows assigned routes and applicable safety, OSHA, DOT, and other legal requirements; inspects and documents vehicle condition; reports safety, service, and route issues; and coordinates with the Route Manager and Dispatch. The driver also ensures containers are completely emptied, properly positioned, and reconciled with the service list, leaves customer locations clean, completes required tickets and end-of-day documentation, and works with others to meet customer needs. The role is generally performed outdoors and/or while driving a video- and GPS-monitored vehicle. It involves frequent physical effort, including handling objects over 50 pounds and pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees may be exposed to dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.

Requirements

One year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL, or equivalent military driving experience, within the last seven years.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with an air brake endorsement.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Acceptable driving record.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Successfully complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, including previous-employment, criminal-history, and motor-vehicle-record reviews.

Responsibilities

Operate the assigned vehicle in accordance with WIN Waste safety rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document them using the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
Immediately report unsafe situations and service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
Attend and participate in required training programs, briefings, and meetings.
Work with the Route Manager to improve route efficiency and identify best practices.
Notify the Route Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
Notify the Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions and potential safety hazards, including blocked containers and closed lots, streets, or alleyways.
Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or the Route Manager.
Identify and report containers needing repair or replacement.
Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles with the service level on the service list.
Completely empty containers and leave customer locations clean and free of debris.
Complete and submit customer tickets when excessive yardage must be removed.
Position and return containers on customer property with lids replaced and enclosure doors secured, without blocking driveway entrances or traffic.
Follow assigned routes and complete end-of-day documentation and checkout.
Perform scheduled duties and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Maintain a positive work environment through appropriate interactions with customers, clients, vendors, coworkers, and management.
Pick up waste or recyclable material and transport it to a disposal, transfer, or recycling facility when the truck reaches legal load capacity.
