Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator Landfill
About The Position
WM is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator II to work at its landfill in Okeechobee. The role operates heavy equipment, including bulldozers, scrapers, and front-end loaders, and supports waste disposal operations while following strict safety procedures. The position is based in a shop or field environment and involves exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes for much of the workday. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 3:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with rotating weekends. WM describes the hours as stable and offers training and development aligned with employees’ career goals.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company operating safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance, and maintain accurate records.
- Move and position raw materials and finished components using material-moving equipment.
- Follow standard operating procedures for operating and maintaining vehicles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
