Heavy Diesel Technician/Mechanic - Night shift
About The Position
Alaska Marine Trucking, part of the Lynden family of companies, is hiring a full-time Heavy Diesel Technician/Mechanic for its Juneau, Alaska location. The position works a night shift from 3:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, and includes a $3.00-per-hour shift differential. The mechanic maintains heavy-duty equipment, including tractors, trailers, and forklifts, and assists with major component swaps such as hydraulic pumps, engines, and transmissions. The position requires the ability to apply for and be issued a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), and to perform inspections in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations. Employment offers are contingent on a satisfactory background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- Must be able to apply for and be issued a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
- Detail-oriented, with good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift objects weighing as much as 100 pounds.
- Ability to travel for short periods of time and work in outside weather conditions.
- Satisfactory background check and pre-employment drug screen are required for employment offers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain heavy-duty equipment, including tractors, trailers, and forklifts.
- Assist with major component swaps, including hydraulic pumps, engines, and transmissions.
- Perform inspections in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Carry out all duties with a strong commitment to excellent customer service.
- Arrive at work on time and ready to work.
